Highly Recommended Chinese Podcasts🎧
I strongly recommend the following podcasts. I will keep updating this list in the future (the order below is not ranked):
熊家客厅 Description: Veteran social news reporter 熊阿姨 produces this podcast in the style of long-form feature reporting. Compared with many traditional conversation or interview podcasts, she pays much closer attention to the details within people and events. As a result, her questions are often more concrete and deeper, reflecting the sharp awareness shaped by years of professional training.
That does not mean she is aggressive in conversation. On the contrary, within many of those details you can always hear a kind of warmth that only appears when someone truly gets close to others and tries to understand them. It is exactly this professionalism with warmth that allows the podcast to portray reality as it is: specific and complex, sometimes helpless and bitter, yet still filled with humor and moments of joy.
An episode I have listened to many times and especially recommend: 阿子和胡续冬:“你带着我的死亡,和你一起过活。”
声东击西 Description: A conversation podcast produced by 声动活泼, under the idea of “letting voices collide with the world.” Through dialogue, the show explores a wider world and tries to understand the structural changes shaping it.
徐涛’s gentle and steady voice often helps calm my sometimes restless mind and slow things down. The guests in each episode analyze current events in ways that help me better understand what is happening beyond my immediate surroundings. Every time I listen, I usually end up with two reactions: “Oh, I did not know that was happening,” and “Wow, that is an angle I had never considered.”
By the way, another show from the same company, 《声动早咖啡》, is also worth recommending. It starts the day with updates on business and technology.
An episode I have listened to many times and especially recommend: 当意大利街角的浓缩咖啡,变成中国移民的生意
张小珺Jùn|商业访谈录 - Podcast Description: Host 张小珺 talks with leading figures in technology and business across the Chinese-speaking world in the age of AI.
Do I listen to it in order to “learn from the guests’ stories to educate or motivate myself”? Or to “quickly understand the cutting edge of AI development”? Not really.
Let me put it this way. At first, this podcast pulled me out of a rather pessimistic and frustrated mindset about the development of AI. It told me, “The world has already developed to this point. Whether you accept it or not, this is where we are.”
Then it began to show many possible directions, reminding me: “These are things you could try, these are paths worth challenging.”
Once I became clearer about my own goals, the podcast turned into something like a resource library for me. It helps me gradually understand what AI-native products actually are, and what I might do to move step by step closer to my own goals.
An episode I have listened to many times and especially recommend: Manus决定出售前最后的访谈:啊,这奇幻的2025年漂流啊…
Interestingly, one of my ideas actually came from this episode 😀 I hope you might also gain something from it.
😉 I learn interviewing techniques by listening to many different podcasts. I often think about what question I would ask next if I were the host, or how I would structure the next part of the conversation. The process itself is a lot of fun. :)
